Making Custom Trays
Nite White

Let’s say you order your custom teeth whitening trays in combination with Nite White gel. Your custom impression kit and Nite White gel will be mailed out within one business day after payment is cleared or completed.

When the kit and Nite White arrive you will find two hard plastic trays, 3 sets of white and purple putty, instructions for making your impressions, a bag and mailer for returning the impressions, and two soft moldable trays for temporary use with your Nite White gel.

You will use one set of putty to make an impression of your upper teeth, one for the lower teeth and there is one extra if you need to do an impression over. After completing your impressions, place them in the plastic bag and use the prepaid (U.S. only), pre-addressed mailer to mail them back to our lab. You may use the soft moldable trays temporarily, to begin whitening with your Nite White gel while we make your custom trays.

Making Your Impressions - more detailed instructions are included in your kit

Step 1 – Remove one catalyst paste and one base paste (one of each color) from the putty pack. With your fingertips, RAPIDLY KNEAD the two putties together for approximately 40 seconds until they become ONE COLOR.

Step 2 – Roll the kneaded putty into a 3-4 inch long rope.

Step 3 - Mold the putty into one of the hard plastic trays so it is distributed evenly throughout the tray. Make sure that the putty fills the entire tray close to the rim.

Step 4 – Standing or sitting in front of a mirror, place the tray into your mouth without touching any teeth. Use your thumbs to press the bottom of the tray into place, making sure your teeth are between the two walls of the tray and the tray covers both the teeth and the gum area. Hold the tray steady for three minutes. Then slowly pull the tray in a downward motion (not forward) until it releases. Remove it from your mouth. Inspect the impression making sure it is not distorted or out of shape. Make sure it shows the TOPS OF YOUR FRONT TEETH UP PAST THE GUM LINE.

Repeat steps 1-4 to make the impression of your bottom teeth. These impressions are used to make stone models from which your trays are made. Your custom trays and stone models will be mailed back to you within two business days after we receive them.

To whiten your teeth, place a small amount of the Nite White gel in your custom tray. Place the tray and Nite White gel in your mouth being careful not to push the Nite White gel out of the tray. Follow the instructions included with the Nite White gel for the recommended treatment time. These are also listed on our Treatment Time page. After whitening, rinse the trays with water. Brush your teeth and rinse well to remove any excess Nite White gel.
